Next, we explore the City Palace, a beautiful blend of Rajput and Mughal architecture. A significant part of the palace is still a royal residence, but sections are open to the public, showcasing courtyards, gardens, and museums. The Mubarak Mahal, housing royal costumes, and the arms gallery are particularly fascinating.
Jantar Mantar: An Astronomical Marvel
Right next to the City Palace is Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. This UNESCO site houses a collection of nineteen architectural astronomical instruments. It’s truly mind-boggling to see the precision with which these instruments were built centuries ago, capable of measuring time, predicting eclipses, and tracking celestial bodies.
